Getting Started

Everything you need to know about beginning therapy

You can schedule online through our Acuity scheduling system, call us at (970) 676-1029, or email [email protected]. We'll find a time that works for your schedule and answer any initial questions you have.
The first session is about getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your concerns, goals, relationship history, and what you hope to achieve. I'll explain my approach and answer any questions. This is also your chance to see if we're a good fit to work together.
Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes. Couples and premarital sessions are 75 minutes to allow adequate time for both partners to share and work together. Intensive sessions range from 3-6 hours for deep-dive work.
Yes! I offer both in-person sessions in Denver and secure virtual sessions via telehealth. Virtual sessions are a great option if you're outside the Denver area, have scheduling constraints, or simply prefer meeting from home.

About Therapy

Understanding the therapeutic process

Most couples and individuals benefit from weekly sessions initially. As you make progress, we may transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions. The frequency depends on your goals, the intensity of your concerns, and what works best for your schedule and budget.
Every situation is unique. Some couples see significant improvement in 8-12 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work. We'll regularly assess progress and adjust our approach. My goal is to help you develop skills and insights you can use long after therapy ends.
The Gottman Method is a research-based approach to couples therapy developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman over 40 years of studying what makes relationships succeed. It focuses on building friendship, managing conflict constructively, and creating shared meaning. It's practical, skills-based, and highly effective.
Yes. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential and protected by HIPAA laws. I only break confidentiality if there's a risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected child or elder abuse, or if required by court order. Your privacy and trust are paramount.
While couples therapy works best when both partners attend, I can work with one partner individually to improve relationship dynamics. Often, when one person makes changes, it positively impacts the relationship. I can also help you decide if individual or couples therapy is the right starting point.

Insurance & Payment

Questions about costs and coverage

Yes! All billing is processed through Alma, which means I can accept most major insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and many others. Contact us to verify your specific plan coverage and learn about your copay or coinsurance.
Individual sessions are $150, couples sessions are $200, and premarital sessions are $100. I also offer a sliding scale for those facing financial hardship. The investment in your relationship and mental health is valuable, and I'm committed to making therapy accessible.
Please provide 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee. I understand that emergencies happen and handle those situations with compassion and flexibility.
Yes! Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) can typically be used for therapy services. Check with your plan administrator to confirm your specific coverage.

Specialized Services

Questions about specific therapy types

Absolutely! Premarital counseling is one of the best investments you can make in your future together. We'll cover communication skills, conflict resolution, financial planning, family dynamics, intimacy, and how to build a strong foundation using research-based tools from the Gottman Method.
Yes. Rebuilding trust after infidelity is challenging but possible with commitment from both partners. I use evidence-based approaches to help couples process the pain, understand what happened, rebuild safety and trust, and create a stronger relationship moving forward.
Therapy focuses on healing past wounds and addressing mental health concerns, while coaching is more goal-oriented and focuses on building skills for the future. Coaching is great for premarital couples, those navigating transitions, or anyone wanting to proactively strengthen their relationship. Both approaches are valuable at different times.
I respect and honor all faith backgrounds. If you'd like to incorporate Christian values, scripture, or prayer into our work together, I'm happy to do so. I can also provide secular, evidence-based therapy. The choice is yours, and I'll meet you where you are.
